American Crown is a narrative history of Prince William’s American connections including the hero Nathan Hale, Jennie Jerome, the mother of Winston Churchill, and his dazzling New Yorker great great grandmother Frances Work who was as glamorous and scandalous as the late Diana, Princess of Wales. His relative Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire was a friend of Lafayette’s and used her sizable influence to support the Americans across the pond during the 18th century.

19th Annual Lafayette Birthday Celebration
Come to City Center Gallery & Books on Saturday September 12 from 2-4fpm and meet author Alan Hoffman, president of the American Friends of Lafayette, who translated Lafayette in America in 1824 and 1825, an eyewitness record of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour of America written by his personal secretary in 1829. Alan will also discuss Lafayette and the Enduring Struggle for Human Rights and Democratic Governments. This new book contains informative, easy-to-understand essays by some of America’s foremost historians. It explains the significance of Lafayette’s contributions to the American Revolution and how his life and ideals can be applied to issues and controversies about democracy today.
This is an informal “Chat with an Author.” Feel free to ask Alan questions about Lafayette and all the places he visited, perhaps your own hometown, and have him sign one of his books! Stroll around and browse the large selection of other titles on Lafayette and the American Revolution, including the new book on Fayetteville’s Liberty Point Resolves of 1775.
